Get the look: Katy Perry With Permanent Makeup
Katy Perry is very experimental with her makeup and hair colour – and it always looks perfect – but every look she tries fits her image and somehow becomes signature to Katy Perry.
Her trademarks: proper eye makeup (that means eyeshadow, strong liner and mascara), strong lipstick and a pale complexion. Katy will have an entourage of people that will help her with dressing and makeup application. It should stay put for some hours but what if she wanted it permanent –would it suit her? Does she need it as she is so young? I could answer, that she is already beautiful and young and doesn’t need any perfecting!
If Katy Perry came to me for permanent makeup I would listen to her main reasons for permanent makeup ie lips, brows or eyeliner. I certainly have a considerable amount of young women in their 20’s come to my permanent makeup clinic. If they are looking to change their faces completely and not happy with their young beauty, I would advise them permanent makeup with me is not for them. This leads me back to permanent makeup for Katy Perry if she requested permanent makeup or semi permanent makeup.
For me to carry out a permanent makeup procedure on Katy Perry or any other young woman the reasons would need to be – uneven over tweezed brows – my permanent makeup brows would provide fullness and symmetry to aid the framing of the face.
Eyeliner to stay put and no more reapplication due to smudging and running down the face. Certainly Katy loves her Latino style eyeliner but a more subtle/medium eyeliner would give her the option to look natural in the day and a base to further enhance the effect in the evening. Ideal!
So to lips, most young women have full lips whether they are small, medium or large lips like Angelina Jolie! The difference in lips of a 20 year old to a 40 plus women is fullness and a defined contour of the lip. For Katy I would not need to correct loss of definition as her lips are beautiful and do not need at this stage in her life. A permanent makeup lip blush with a beautiful Nouveau Contour pink colour would be the best choice. A permanent lip blush enhances the lips by implanting the chosen colour subtly in the lips. So no strong lip line, or powerful colour for Katy that’s for her stage makeup. Perhaps you would like the same?
So Katy if you would like to receive a professional permanent makeup procedure come and see me at any of my permanent makeup clinics in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, London and Middlesex. I would love to meet you and please bring me a copy of your latest album! Cheeky!
Permanent makeup prices start at £425-£600.

Summer is full of pleasures and we can’t wait to enjoy the sunshine and time outdoors! I’m sure it is only around the corner and very soon you can enjoy the warmth against your face – but be prepared for melting makeup, smudged brows for those that draw them on, sliding eyeliner and sticky lipstick. Sorry I hope I haven’t spoilt your dream of a great looking good summer? You can though do something about it. Read on…….
……..in hot weather, applying your makeup should be as simple and comfy as putting on your favourite pair of jeans and flip-flops, But the heat and humidity are a challenge, so you have to make a few little changes to your routine. The changes are very simple and here are a few but if you really want to have a smudge free none smeared look for Summer then permanent makeup is for you.
- Primer. Yes the days have gone with caked matted primers. The beauty market has a great selection of incredibly light primers to help your foundation stay on all day, even in high humidity. My favourites are Clarins and Smashbox. Apply under foundations for a smooth beautiful finish that provides good coverage all day.
- Lighten up your foundation texture there is no need for a heavy one in this heat. Better still choose a tinted moisturiser Apply a light dusting of power to ensure it lasts the day. I love the new mineral foundations that are around. Jane Iredale and Fresh Minerals have a fabulous selection of colours and offer a summer natural look.
- Bronzer apply over the forehead, cheek bones, chin and nose. Bronzers help make your eyes look brighter and teeth whiter. Choose one that matches your colouring that gives an authentic healthy glow to your skin. Clarins duo, Gosh and Clinique have perfect choices for all.
- For eyeliner that stays put is a difficult one. There are many that promise but in reality they still slide down your face or disappear into a smudged pander look. The ideal solution is to have permanent eyeliner applied. You can choose from a subtle liner placed through the lashes to enhance your eyes. And will not run or disappear by lunch time! Alternatively choose a thicker eyeliner to accentuate and create that favourite almond eye look.
- Eyebrows frame your face and give definition to all your features but if the eyebrow pencil or powder have disappeared with the humidity or occasional summer shower (hopefully not) or by wiping your forehead (as we do without knowing) then permanent eyebrows will offer a permanent solution staying put 24/7 for up to two years. Fantastic news for those with sparse or no brows.
- Lips need to look good in summer. A heavy lipstick will disappear as soon as you put it on. There are lip stains on the market but personally I do not like them. Permanent lip blush will provide you with naturalness to your existing lip shape or add a very delicate lip line to create volume and a sexy pout. Wake up looking fantastic in the morning ready for the day ahead of summer socialising.
So there you have it traditional makeup and permanent makeup creating a beautiful face!

EYEBROW MAKEUP BY TRACY FENSOME
One of the best ways to look younger is to have a brow lift. I hear you say, no knife please! If surgery is not what you are looking for then read on.
If you want to restore that open eyed look and give an instant face lift then permanent eyebrow makeup is for YOU.
PERMANENT MAKEUP
At my permanent makeup clinics also known as semi permanent makeup I can dramatically improve your brows whether you have sparse hairs or none at all. Over the years permanent makeup has improved immensely. It is a good compromise to surgery and makeup. My recommendation to you would be to choose a good permanent makeup artist, http://www.tracyfensome.co.uk/about/ someone that can reshape and draw in eyebrows hair by hair. I create this 3D hairstroke effect by using tiny needles with the most up to date digital machine to implant Nouveau Countour colour pigments into the upper layer of the skin. Colours have changed dramatically over the years and an experienced permanent makeup artist will be able to assess your skin tone and custom blend the mineral powders rather than using ink. The results will give you the exact shade to suit your skin tone. Once the permanent makeup has healed it will end up with a perfectly natural shape and colour.
Results can last up to 2 years and the price generally reflects the expertise of the permanent makeup artist from £495. A free colour boost should be included in the price to allow for any perfecting a month after.

If you wish to choose a different anti-ageing brow lift then there are a number of other options as follows:
BROW TRANSPLANT
Hair transplant surgery has become more sophisticated and surgeons can now control the angle of the transplanted hair which is paramount for the brows. The shape and thickness plays a big part in how they will look. Professionally, I would recommend you go for a slightly arched, elongated brow that is not too skinny. This shape can suit most face shapes and if you are looking for an eyebrow that gives the facelift look then go for this. If you are unsure, it would be beneficial if you ask a brow shaping expert to give you assistance in what would suit you best. See http://www.tracyfensome.co.uk/permanent-makeup/celebrity/
BOTOX
If an instant brow lift is needed then Botox in small amounts can be injected into the brows so the down pulling muscles are relaxed and up pulling muscles work more efficiently giving you an instant lift. Some results can last up to six months. For further details visit the bapras.org.uk or speak with your GP.
HOME TREATMENTS
If loss of hair is the problem then consider permanent makeup or a treatment to encourge hair growth. There are a number of hair growth treatments on the market, Revita Brow is one of them. Normally the treatment is applied every night for six weeks. Hair growth is not guaranteed but this may be a more cost effective treatment to begin with. If after six weeks there is no great improvement then reconsider permanent cosmetic makeup.
So there you have it a bite size of what is available and hopefully this will enable you to make the decision on a treatment suitable for you and your brows.

Semi Permanent Makeup Lips
As we mature our lips can start to thin, flatten, have less volume and lose their pigment colour, leaving a less defined lip. This can worsen if lips are left dehydrated and become dry.
On a daily occurance I hear my clients complain of these changes and ask what is the best remedy? Irrespective of age I would recommend a weekly routine to help nourish, replenish and repair the lips.
If you have already read many of my blogs you will know that I am a fan of Angelina Jolie’s beauty. Not only does she have fabulous brows, eyes and a face shape to die for! but her lips always have a sexy pout and look luscious. So ladies, to have these well groomed lips you need to use a light scrub to create that fresher surface. These scrubs can be found in many of the retail high street shops ie Boots, Body shop etc. If you do not want to spend money on a scrub my tip would be to use a very soft toothbrush and very lightly in a circular motion whilst supporting the lips work around the lips. In addition, look at changing your normal lip balm to a more nourishing one with a texture like butter. Burts Bees have a great one and can be found in many of the main shops. For a splash of colour there are many wonderful semi lip colours available that contain boosting serums. If you want a all day lip colour then permanent makeup is a great alternative.
Why? well not only can permanent makeup redefine the lips for that lost definition. Permanent makeup will also create the illusion of more lip volume without having to go down the filler route. The colour doesn’t have to be loud, a good technician can match the pigment to as near as your own lip colour with a bit more of a wow factor. Here are some of the benefits to having permanent makeup and permanent lip colour:
- stays put 24/7
- enhances your shape
- no smudging
- no reapplying after eating
- endless colours to choose from

Ten Important Points to Choosing the Right Permanent Makeup Practitioner
1. Prices: Never ever choose a permanent makeup practitioner on price alone!
In my professional opinion, prices often reflect the level of training and experience of the practitioner you are considering. Remember this person will be performing the permanent procedure on YOUR face so never choose on price alone. This procedure is an art and requires advanced skills for great results. Too low a price and you should question the expertise of the practitioner, quality of colour pigments (are they FDA and EU approved?) being used and the standards of environment.
2.Training
Consider if the practitioner has a beauty, medical and a creative artistic flair background. If none of these then definitely research the training they have received. The training company they trained with, how long ago did they train, ask to see the certificates, insurance, licensing. If they do not have them then go no further with this practitioner. I conducted my training many years ago with Nouveau Contour, the market leaders in this industry and continue to learn today as the industry evolves.
To simplify, it is just as important to know how experienced they are as well as how long they have been a permanent makeup practitioner. Let me elaborate:-
If they have been carrying out permanent makeup over 5 years plus but only do this part time, or have another business or spend most of their time doing facials and pedicures, then their ‘skills’ may not necessarily give you the same results as a full time dedicated practitioner like myself, for example. Aside from the contribution of lecturing at the College and University, this is my dedicated career – day in and day out. I could not perform to such high standards of work if I did not have the years of expertise and 100’s of clients I see over the days, months, years.
Ask ‘How many procedures do they do a week/month’, do they do this every day? How many procedures over the years have been carried out? May I see some of your portfolio images? How often do their update skills?
Don’t choose someone that dips in and out of this profession!!! Practise really does make perfect!
3.Insurance
If your permanent makeup practitioner is qualified and licensed then they should be able to show you their insurance document. Check that there is a reference number allocated and that the name on the certificate is the practitioner you are visiting and the date is valid.
4. Licensing
Whether your practitioner is working from a dedicated clinic or is a visiting practitioner to many clinics check they are correctly licensed. By being licensed they are local authority approved to carry out this needle procedure. This means their hygiene; health and safety standards and clinic environment have been assessed and meet the local authority bylaws. Also that the needles get collected and disposed of safely by a specialist collection company. If they do not hold this license ask yourself, why not?
5. What Associations do they belong to?
Most permanent makeup practitioners will seek to belong to an Association in the Permanent Makeup field. Never choose based solely on this but it is a good indication to their professionalism, commitment and to maintaining standards and regulations. For example, myself, I belong to Habia, Consulting Room Approved Practitioner and MiFl – Institute of Further Learning.
6. Ask to see endorsements/testimonials
Firstly, they should have a portfolio and a selection of their work for you to view. This should have a selection of past and up to date testimonials from clients. If you need further assurance, ask if you could call a couple of them to get a verbal recommendation.
This will give you a greater accurate representation of this practitioner you are considering.
7. Free Consultation & Time To Think
Most Permanent Makeup Practitioners will give free consultations or a charge that is redeemable against the procedure. Never feel pressured into making an appointment to have the treatment carried out if you are not sure. If need be, go away, take the practitioner’s advice and consider everything you have been recommended. Remember because you had the free consultation you are under no-obligation to have the treatment done or if you have paid a redeemable charge you should have up to 3 months to decide.
Once you have made the decision to have Permanent Makeup, be expected to pay a deposit to book the procedure date and time – normally £50 for one procedure, two £100 and three procedures £150. This should be redeemable on the day unless you cancel outside the terms and conditions or do not turn up.
8. Gut Feelings Count
Most permanent makeup practitioners hold clinics in various salons and clinics in different areas and there are those that had a dedicated one clinic. Ideally your consultation will take place in the same place that you will be having the procedure completed. Ensure the environment is clean sterile and a license is held. Speak to the practitioner, view their website, contact details and check that all clinic addresses are visible on the web site. Just as important is your initial gut feeling about the practitioner, information provided and clinic environment.
Is the practitioner’s work displayed on the web site? Can you view plenty testimonials.
A professional Elite Permanent Makeup Practitioner should have a website and place of business to match their overall standards and professionalism.
Once again if any of these are missing, you should question the ability and professionalism of the practitioner you are thinking of choosing.
9. Are your Expectations Realistic?
It is common practise for clients to ask for celebrity brows, or a fad lip colour or Amy Winehouse eyeliner or Angelina Jolie lips. My job is to ensure that my client is provided with a honest realistic idea of what is achievable on their face shape, bone structure, skin tone etc. Do not let a practitioner promise you a particular shape or colour without them explaining or showing you how it is achievable. For example, drawing on the brow shape or pigment colours on forehead to help choose.
Remember that with permanent makeup, less is more. You can always add to your permanent makeup with conventional make up when you go out. At the perfecting top-up it is even possible to add more permanent makeup if it’s realistically possible.
The aim of permanent make up is to enhance and complement your natural features and add renewed freshness – not to change your look completely!
10. Have you Made that Decision to Look Great, All Day, Every Day?
Once you have made the decision to go ahead with your treatment – and I will say again, with an expert that ticks all the right boxes – you will feel a new sense of excitement and be itching to ”get the job done”. A little nervousness is perfectly normal too. At this point, still continue asking questions if you have any outstanding issues. It’s important you’re 100% ready for this life changing treatment and are in no way concerned.
I’m sure that, as with many of my clients, once the procedure is completed you will wonder what all the fuss was about, and I will probably hear you say ‘I wish I’d had this done years ago’. ‘I can’t believe the difference it makes, I look younger’, ‘and I love it’.
As a permanent makeup practitioner, a permanent makeup fan, a permanent makeup educator I know you will feel great and love looking your best every day. You have nothing to lose by booking a consultation, giving me a call or email me your questions.
Make today the first new day of a new you!
Call 07980 578252 or email me today to book your consultation, and let me show you how you too can look great, not to mention save time and money – every day!
